Statistics Canada is proud to present Population Projections for Canada, Provinces and Territories, your most authoritative source for information about Canada’s population characteristics in the coming years.  You can use Projections to:

  • Plan for population changes
  • Identify emerging market trends
  • Develop marketing strategies

Let Projections be your guide to Canada’s demographic landscape until 2056 for Canada and 2031 for the provinces and territories.

An indispensable decision-support tool available in analytical report or CD-ROM formats

The
Projections report combines three parts to give you an overview of plausible future population trends.

  1. A methodology section that clearly and simply describes the base population, the assumptions about components of population change, the projection scenarios, and the methods used.
  2. An analysis of six projection scenarios, focusing on the growth of the Canadian population, the sources of growth, the changing age structure of the population and its distribution over the provinces and territories.
  3. An appendix containing detailed population projection data by age group and sex and by components of population growth both by provinces and territories for each scenario.

The Projections CD-ROM gives you even more detailed electronic tables in Excel files as well as the entire analytical report in PDF format. You get:

  1. Population projections by single year of age, sex and year of projection up to 2031 for the provinces and territories, and to 2056 for all of Canada
  2. Thirteen scenarios, including the six contained in the report.

This online article was written by Susan Ward, an educator and business woman, who also puts out an e-newsletter on business. She states that: “When it comes to the best business opportunities, contradiction is the key word for 2007. Though people will indulge themselves more, their “buying patterns will reflect more of an emphasis on health than ever before.”  So, “the same people going out for cheesecake will be picking up more yogurt on their way home from the gym.”
